Food Safety & Quality Assurance

New York Apple Sales, Inc is committed to provide safe, quality, fresh fruit that meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations, providing a product that you can trust.  Quite simply, quality and safety is a core philosophy of our business.

Food Safety

Our packing facilities have third party food safety audits that are benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative.  These audits include the Global Standard for Food Safety (BRC) and the Global GAP audit with Postharvest Packing.  The packhouse food safety audit programs are preventative programs and are based on hazard analysis of each facility.  These programs are reviewed regularly and are continually improved upon with investments in new technologies, equipment, staff development and facility improvement.  Our grower suppliers must meet specific Good Agricultural Practices verified by third party GAP audits including GlobalGAP.

Quality Assurance

New York Apple Sales understands that one key to controlling food safety is to control quality.  To make sure that every product you purchase from us is the safest and highest quality possible, we have standard procedures in place through out our supply chain and have staff dedicated to assuring our quality standards are met.

Traceability and Recall

We have full traceability on each case of fruit that we ship.  Additionally, we are on the leading edge of the industry as we move toward full traceability on poly bags.  Bag traceability allows our products to be identified, even at the point of purchase.   In the event of an issue, we have a centralized recall program that can be initiated in a timely and efficient manner. We are committed to the Produce Traceability Initiative and are working to meet the timelines set there and to provide industry standardized barcoded information on all cases.
